As you probably have read, the Daraja girls had a huge impact upon me during my time in Kenya. They have come from past lives and situations that I cannot even imagine, since mine has been so drastically different. Yet, every single day at Daraja, they bring joy and love to everything that they do. It breaks my heart to know that there are many young girls who are just as bright and enthusiastic as the Daraja girls who won’t be able to go to school, and will thus end up married and pregnant or working for relatives.
So, I would like to try to raise the $2500 that it takes to send a girl to school for a year in Kenya to sponsor one of the incoming Daraja freshmen. This $2500 includes food, uniforms, teacher salaries, and everything else The new class comes in next February, and none of them have sponsors yet. If you are so inspired, sponsor a girl yourself; you get to keep updated on the girl through letters, emails, and pictures. It is an amazing program, and you can check out the Daraja website (www.daraja-academy.org) or email Paria Rajai (firstname.lastname@example.org) to set up a sponsorship. If you have a smaller amount of money to donate, I will compile the $2500 that it takes to sponsor a Daraja girl. Anything helps, whether it be $1, $10, or $100. If you cannot donate yourself, ask your friends and family if they can help.
If you would like to donate, please make out a check to Daraja Academy and send it to my home (send me an email, email@example.com, if you don’t know my address). Thank you so, so much. It means a lot to me, and it will mean even more to the girl that we can sponsor to be a freshman at Daraja Academy next year.
