Bringing and Not Bringing

Here is the packing, before and after. I am bringing a mandolin case, a medium duffel bag, a small backpacking backpack, and a travel fanny pack.

Things I am bringing: at least 15 books, my mandolin, chacos, photographs of everyone, long skirts to hike in (!), two large boxes of Clif Bars

Things I am NOT bringing: a computer, “All That The Rain Promises and More: A Hip Pocket Guide To Western Mushrooms,” tank tops, an extra phone (to my dad’s disappointment).

I leave tomorrow, and I cannot believe it. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. I’ll post next from either Hong Kong (I have a 21 hour layover there on the way to Kathmandu) or Kathmandu. The weather in Kathmandu is 80 degrees Fahrenheit and thunderstormy… my favorite!
